Lucid Dreaming or Conscious Dreaming is the art of being aware that one is actually dreaming. In simple words, while in dream, you are aware that all the events are not happening in fact, or ‘It’s Just A Dream!’ kind of situation. There is certain amount of control you can exercise while lucid dreaming, which is not the case in normal dreams.
Rather than go into a long winded explanation, let’s just say that a lucid dream is a dream just like any other dream, apart from the fact that with a lucid dream you actually know that you’re having a dream while it’s happening. Of course, the full extent of your lucidity depends on various factors such as the stability of the dream experience itself, the amount of influence you have an over the dream, and of course the amount of dream recall you have when you wake up.
The vast majority of people think of dreams as something mysterious which is not within our power to control. Whether we have nightmares or very pleasant dreams, not everyone is aware that it is in fact possible to stop these dreams from being purely random. Through the method called lucid dreaming, dream control is something that anyone can have.
You may not know about lucid dreams yet, but they are real and are an amazing experience. A lucid dream is a dream where you are conscious of the fact that you are dreaming; and best of all, you’re in total control of your dream! You can take the reins and take your dream anywhere that you want to go.
So you want to lucid dream. Well that’s a good start, at least you know what you want to do; but how exactly do you go about it?
If you are unfamiliar with the term, a lucid dream is one in which you are aware that you are dreaming. Lucid, of course denotes consciousness. The extent to which you are lucid within your dream depends on how stable the dream is, how much of the dream you can recall upon waking and how much control you have over the course of the dream.
Lucid dreaming is also often referred to as conscious dreaming, in that one can often exercise a certain degree of control over the dream, unlike with regular dreaming. Basically, lucid dreaming is all about the art of dreaming while at the same time being aware of the fact that it’s a dream, even while you’re a busy dreaming.
Dreams that you have where you know they are dreams and control the final outcomes of the dream are called lucid dreams. These are the type of dreams where you pick the subject or the person they are about and make the dream come out the way you want yet you feel like you are fully awake, similar to day dreaming.
