March 8th, 2010 Alex Joseph No comments

If you have been looking out for distinct exercise workouts for you, this is exactly what you want, a yoga or Pilates exercise. Yoga and Pilates exercise are different forms of exercise, at the same time have fairly similar workouts and thus make them connect with each other and form a new program that is used.

But if you are looking for building muscles or reducing the fat, this program is not for you. Yoga and Pilates exercise are not intended to build muscles, instead they give the body a leaner appearance and keep the mind and the body connected and altogether helps the body and mind to relax and help the person, who leads a stressful life, to deal with it. By just trying it once, you won’t be able to let go off it.

What A Pilates And Yoga Exercise Program Could Look Like

Yoga and Pilates are two different forms; some people prefer doing Pilates on a day and yoga on the other. Others prefer to combine some forms of these exercises to create work out of their own. This program can slot in some positions from yoga to incorporate it with the exercise of Pilates, and hence such combinations work on the desired area and give strength to the key muscles.

For instance the Pilates yoga regime can help you get rid of your fat around your abdomen and tummy with yoga warrior position along with 100’s from the Pilates. Both these moments are extremely controlled and also very precise that engages the muscles of abdomen. In the warrior position, the individual must stand and keep one of the legs about four feet forward extending his arms keeping it parallel to ground. Turning the foot on the right slightly and then turning the left foot to an angel of 90 degrees. You need to exhale and then bend your right knee while doing this position keep the right knew on the ankle pressing left leg and then holding in this position for about 30 seconds.

Positions from the 100’s needs a person to lie on the back and the legs should be pulled off the floor straight gradually. Now the person has to lift the shoulders and the head off the floor and then force down the abdomen. Next place the hands on the thighs and the hips and gradually lower legs without touching the floor. Now count till five and press the hands in an up and down manner and inhale and count till five and exhale, repeat till you count 100.

This type of pilates yoga exercise allows for a person to work with both disciplines of exercise and creates a balance of yoga and pilates that is unique and specialized for an individual.

For individuals who in the past have made use of both these type of program can be as simple as combining two positions together that have a similar flow. Exercises by Pilate’s yoga are one of the best methods for a complete body and mind workout.

Some people tend to have more problems than others and some factors are controllable, while others are not. Learning more about lower back and hip pain is the first step towards being pain free.

Types Of Lower Back And Hip Pain

There are three categories of lower back and hip pain depending on how long your pain lasts and how often you get it. If the pain lasts less than three months, it is acute back pain. Most back pain is this type. It is easy to deal with at home and no doctor’s care is needed. Get a few days of bed rest if you like, then back on your feet and work through the pain. Exercise will help, as can analgesics.

Some people who suffer from acute pain get it time and again making the pain recurrent. It can be frustrating and annoying to go through the pain again but with careful treatment it will definitely fade away hopefully forever.

February 20th, 2010 Rosy Thomas No comments

We experience feelings of depression or dejection, but are not sure as to what exactly it is. Yet one is not supposed to think that by simply yearning for the answer to your depressed feelings, one is entitled to run for a anti depression drug, as such a behavior would not be rational. Though you might like to think you are going through the worst, the idea would be to just find the right answer to your feeling and it might be not so serious a matter for you being alarmed.

Own Set Of Symptoms

To make sure that symptoms of depression that are clinical are different from that of a low feeling one has to be aware of the fact that they have symptoms that can be easily distinguished from any other type of illness. To achieve this one has to get replies to questions like – how bad one’s mood is? How it is affecting their ability to sleep without any aid? Are they also affected by insomnia? Do they continue sleeping for longer periods of time though they don’t want to do so?

Other things to look out for which can show that you are in fact suffering from depression include being irritable as well as cantankerous, disliking things that you normally liked and even becoming too argumentative without any real provocation.

Look out for signs that tell you, you are melancholic and pondering over misguided thought like an approaching death and probably mull over thought of committing suicide. Suddenly these thoughts take control of you and you are devastated, thus encompassing you to do things irrationally.

Normally, everybody is worrying about everything in life, grieving is frequent which perhaps nobody is spared. It is not something that one has to be worried about. But everything has to be stopped to some extent, if such feelings persist, then the best possible reason could be depression. People close to you are the ones who might help you in detecting if you have depression symptoms. Most probably they can help you in coming out of this ailment, but if the problem is grave then perhaps you won’t comply with their requests.

Then comes the most important question of understanding if such feelings are related to some particular phase of your life or are they signs of depression. Apart from this you might also have to check if you have fallen prey to anxiety depression. This state can also be very difficult and get worsened if you also get affected by panic attacks and get totally stressed out.

In any case, certain events in our lives that are life changing and which include bereavements and misfortunes are likely triggers that can bring on an attack of depression and so too is a divorce which can cause you to feel gloomy and doomed.

Definitely if the symptoms are consistent, with painful emotions that just don’t away, and one cannot lead a normal life and engulfs your whole being, then it is time you consider to take some professional help. February 6th, 2010 Alex James No comments

If you are a panic attack sufferer, then of course you want to find relief for your condition as soon as possible. Panic attacks are not only frightening but they can also cause you to feel isolated and alone, and begin avoiding certain situations in which you used to feel comfortable.

Simple daily chores are avoided even going to a store to buy necessities or out for a movie is avoided. The anxiety causes them to stay away from everything because of the panic attack. But these anxiety attacks often are the culprits, as they in turn become responsible for worsening the condition more than the panic attacks.

For getting relief from panic attacks the first and foremost thing that one has to do is control their mind. If one has been particularly dealing with these attacks for fairly a long period of time then the probability of them feeling depressed and low is very high. They can consult their own physician or consult a psychiatrist of psychologist, whomever they are more in ease with.

They will help you to learn more about panic attacks and also help you determine what the causes of your panic attacks are. They may suggest self or group therapy, and group therapy has particularly shown to be effective because it gets you out and interacting with other people who have gone through the same experiences and who therefore can give you great firsthand opinions on what you should and should not do when you are having a panic attack and just in general.

To deal with panic attacks one must have a close watch on the thought process that goes in mind during stressful times. These attacks can become aggravate if the individual is having some negative thoughts in their head during attack time.

Alzheimer’s Disease And Ayurvedic Herbs

January 2nd, 2010 Nicole Kerala No comments

Over the years, more and more Ayurvedic Alzheimer’s herbs have been used by many people in order to prevent the degenerative Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive medical condition which affects the brain and is known to manifest in elderly people.

Most people suffering from Alzheimer’s are senior citizens, and there are many risk factors that can be detected early on. High blood pressure, head trauma, high cholesterol, not exercising the brain, coronary artery disease, and genetics are the more well known risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease.

The warning signs are not always immediately apparent, but can be noted: gradual memory loss is the most common, poor cognitive skills also raise a flag, as well as dementia and personality problems.

There is no known cure and Alzheimer’s disease progresses over time. Because the disease causes brain tissue degeneration, it is important to use the appropriate herbs to help balance out the negative effects.

Ayurvedic herbs that can help with Alzheimer’s often work by treating brain damage (Alzheimer’s is a form of brain damage) and benefiting the cells in the brain. Guduchi, Pancha-Tikta-Ghruta Gugguli, Amalaki, and Musta are a just a few of the herbs used in Ayurveda to treat Alzheimer’s.

Several other Ayurvedic herbs are also known to improve brain function. It is absolutely essential for anyone at-risk of developing Alzheimer’s to practice routine brain exercises along with using these therapeutic herbs.

Padma, Guduchi, yashtimadhuk, Nelumbo nucifera, Vacha, Shankhpushpi, Convolvulus pluricaulis and several others are all excellent herbs for slowing down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. By enhancing the brain’s functionality, they provide stability over time with regular use.

Plenty of other Ayurvedic herbs also help keep the brain damage caused by Alzheimer’s to a minimum. There has not been a lot of modern scientific research about these herbs as of yet, but more and more researchers are taking interest in their potential.

AlzCare is one of the best Ayurvedic herbal blends on the market for Alzheimer’s; this blend of five rejuvenating herbs nourishes brain cells by maintaining oxygen and blood supply. Ashwaganda is an especially powerful ingredient that acts as a nervine tonic to rejuvenate cells and boost energy. The other herbs in this blend include Arjun, Amalaki, Galo Satva, and Kutaj.

The treatment and intake of these herbs should be done at the very onset of the diagnosis. Treating the disease in its early stage is crucial to slow its progress. Specific, early and accurate diagnosis is therefore significant when it comes to people with the Alzheimer’s disease. This herbal treatment may be the key to leading normal and healthier life.

Learning The Techniques and Training Of Tai Chi

December 3rd, 2009 Walter McKibbin No comments

Derived from the Taiji symbol which, in the Western areas is known as the yin and yang, Tai Chi was said to be the practice that preserved the oldest schools of learning which study the receptive and active principles.

The core training of Tai Chi features two forms: the solo form and the Push Hands. In solo form, slow motions are given emphasis while maintaining a straight and firm spine and constant fine abdominal breathing. Push hands, on the other hand, involve training with a more practical and convenient ways of motion.

As the word implies, the solo form of Tai Chi, requires only the one person to conquer the movements. It would take the students through a natural and complete range of motion over gravity’s center. If repeated accurately, the practice of the solo form can retain posture, maintain honest flexibility going through the joints and muscles, encourage proper circulation from any point of the student’s body, and let students be more familiarized with some of the important martial art application sequences that are usually implied by the different forms.

Major styles of traditional Tai Chi have forms that somewhat differ from the others, cosmetically. Some differ in the wave of the hands, in the position of the legs, the reaction of the body and the pace of the movement. But these are all irrelevant because what is important to Tai Chi training is that it benefits not only the body but the mind as well. Although, there are many similarities coming from the point of their common origin that are obvious enough to recognize.

Solo form, weapons and empty-hands are the basic steps to start off with learning Tai Chi. Many other martial arts application do this in their trainings. This is especially intended to prepare the students for self-defense.

Tai Chi’s Philosophy in training tells that if one becomes as hard as his opponent during a fight whether attending or resisting it, the clash will inevitably create physical injuries to both sides. A fight like this is greatly compared to fighting brutes, according to the Tai Chi theory – an attitude despised by Tai Chi discipline.

While in other martial arts force is applied to some measure, in Tai Chi, the use of subtle movements and softness in facing a battle is a great contributing factor in order to end up victorious. With Tai Chi, you just follow every attacking motion and in the end exhaust the attacking force. Such is the Tai Chi principle wherein the yin and yang is applied – the primary goal in the Tai Chi discipline.

Aside from discipline, Tai Chi schools also put their concentration on how the energy of a striking person will bring damage to his opponent. Say for example, you can use your palm to hit your opponent looking the same and performing the same but with a different impact on the target.

With your palm you can push a person forward or backward, do it in such a way that the opponents are lifted vertically from the ground, this way their center of gravity will be shaken and eventually fall.

Then, you can finish your opponent with a final blow bringing traumatic internal damage.

When it comes to having a healthy lifestyle, getting the right information can be a daunting task. We at the TC Society understand your desire for having a healthy body, peaceful mind and a happy spirit. That is why we put together this site for you at Tai Chi in Los Angeles.

A Few Steps To End Your Stress With Yoga

October 17th, 2009 Jenna Strickland No comments

Would you like a few yoga techniques to end your stress with yoga; after a long day at work? The first de-stressing technique or Asana is called the Nishpandabhava. The Sanskrit word, Nishpandabhava comes from Nishpanda meaning passive and bhava meaning stance. Put your favorite piece of relaxing music to start.

Loosen all your muscles; begin with the hands, feet, legs; sit reclined against the wall. The music facilitates the breathing to become more rhythmic; steadying the mind. Your breath will slowly synchronize itself to the beat of the music playing in the background. Continue breathing deeply and concentrate on your third eye.

Stay in this pose for 10 minutes. This posture helps reduce blood pressure as a result of reduced heart beat. This asana takes your mind into the alpha state of meditation due to reduction of stress hormones in your blood and relaxation of muscles. The next pose, the Shavasana is similar but relaxes the back, too.

Shava means a corpse and asana means posture. This asana completely relaxes all the muscles of the body and regulates breathing. Lie, flat on your back upon a mat. Focus your attention in this order and breathe deeply; the toes, the chest, the shoulders, the neck, the chin, the jaws, the mouth, the nose tip, the third eye, the forehead and the mind.

Yogendra Pranayam is of paramount importance. Breath or Vayu is called Prana and the usage is called Ayam. Hence, Pranayam means the correct usage of breath by the body. This technique ensures that all the cells in the body receive oxygen in proper amounts.

Lie down on the back, bending your knees and placing your feet flat in line with the shoulders, helping the muscles of the back, abdomen, and chest to loosen and dilate. Now place your hand on the navel and focus your attention on your breathing. Then take a deep breath slowly, feel your abdomen move upwards and try not to bloat your stomach. Return your abdomen to the same position with an exhalation.

Then gently pull the stomach in without moving the chest. These three motions, expand the abdomen, massages the visceral organs and promoting circulation of blood. Do these positions in cycles of 10 seconds. These Asanas helps one introspect, train the mind, organize thoughts, regulate breathing and help one cultivate passivity. Now you have an idea how much better you will feel you can begin to end your stress with Yoga.

For better stress release yoga, you should get a couple of good videos and stick with them.
